I've had a little skim through some of my past posts... and amazingly, you probably wouldn't know i'm a bit of a foody (well you have to maintain curves don't you?!).
So i thought i'd share with you that i think i may have found the tastiest curry dish i've come across (so far.... need to keep trying these things!)
It's out of Rick Stein's Far East Odyssey book and it's called Amy's Nyonya Chicken.
Oh.... my ... god!
It's malaysian (be daring if you've only ever tried indian) and is aromatic, a fierce heat that mellows quite quickly is thick and unctious and just a delight to eat.
Hmm.... i could quite easily wiggle into the kitchen and get my apron on right now.... give it a whirl and if you need the recipe... just ask
bye for now

12 reasons why the 2010 World Cup has been the worst ever
Sounds harsh doesn't it? This world cup... the worst ever... even worse than 1994 and the awful Diana Ross moment and the flat steep sided grounds used to NFL football. Well.... yes, and here are 12 reasons why.
1. Lack of a flair Brazil side. They may not always win it, but watching a Brazil side with their flair and adventure makes a world cup. This time.... what happened? They qualified pretty easily but their passing was slow, they looked regimented and that something special just wasn't there was it?
2. Vuvu's.... no more more words needed than just annoying.
3. Lack of a decent television world cup theme tune. Remember Aztec Gold for Mexico 86, remember Nessun Dorma for Italia 90, remember the Faithless futuristic melody for Japan/Korea 2002.... this year..... hmm, point proven... bad year for the theme tunes!
4. A 99p floater for a football. What's the point in bringing the worlds talent of football for an international event and then using something which whizzes al over the place like one of those plastic garish coloured footballs you get by the seaside. Not helped at all!
5. An unappreciative audience. Don't get me wrong, what a spectacle it must have been for the Africans. But South Africa have cricket and rugby well ahead of football in their pecking order. The noisy horns killed the atmosphere, switched off millions and created an embarrassing memory for this tournament.
6. Lack of legacy. What's going to happen now? Empty massive stadia? Or are rugby clubs going to take them on? Why have a country with little club infrastructure in place to utilise the massive rebuilding programmes? Will these grounds all be knocked down now and in years to come?
7. Woeful commentators. In years gone by we had Motson, Davies, Moore. Now Tyldesley aside (and even his varying pronunciation on Asamoah of Ghana was greatly annoying).... what do we have? Jonathan Pierce.... oh dear god is that all we can muster!!!???
8. Poor games. One or two moderately decent ones. But where have the classics been? But then with background noise, a ball that defies convention and average sides.... i guess that might have been asking too much.
9. A modern game without a modern approach. Technology. The goal for Argentina against Mexico. Frank Lampards shot that crossed the line by miles. Should that still be happening in 2010?
10. Players saving themselves for their clubs. Kaka.... Messi.... Ronaldo... Rooney... Van Persie.... Torres.... Henry... Ribery... and so many so called quality players that have looked average. Where have they all been.
11. Goals... or lack of. Maybe one of my most abiding memories was the Mexico world cup in 86. Some stunning thunderbolts... 35 yard exocet missiles taking the netting out. How many wondergoals have there been this year? Tevez maybe against Mexico? and South Africa's opener? But it seems anything hit from distance has ballooned in the air. Not good when you want excitement and drama.
12. Finally.... a poorly performing England team. Poor all the way through. And at least when we haven't been at a world cup you have less to moan about! But this time for all the supposed quality. Poor management, poor tactics, poor selection and lack of desire and passion from the "golden generation" who must clearly have been dubbed that for the extreme levels of money they've taken from the game!
So thank you South Africa for trying... but good riddance when the curtain falls on this embarrassment of a tournament.

World Cup 2010.... not like they used to be, corsets are the answer!
Is it me or have i reached that age..... "where things aren't like they used to be"?
Now for once i'll try and keep on topic..... the World Cup. The 2010 World Cup. Now granted I've not seen oodles of it this time around. But what little i have has been rubbish.
I mean to say the poxy horns (give them as fancy a name as you like, they are still poxy horns... they are a horn *check* and they are poxy *check*).... so.... the horns. Why is there so much discussion about it? Because the football is poo. Why is there so much discussion about the ball wobbling all over the shop (as Robert Green would try and testify to)... because the football has been poo.
And why is there discussion about the parking and time taken to get away from grounds.... yes, because the football has been poo.
So the power of three has it, the South Africa World Cup 2010 has been poo so far.
Maybe the problem is comparing it to the past (and before i get ageist comments... i'm 35 ok?).... I remember the world cup in Spain in 82. Bryan Robson and his dodgy shoulder. The legacy images of the Brazilians. Stunning goals from distance, guile, skill, audacity. I remember the Mexico 86 World Cup. Vasily Rats, Bellanov and Bessanov of the USSR scoring from obscene distances at altitude.
The expression of Tardelli of Italy, Lothar Matthaus at Italia 90. The magic of Cameroon and their run, the tears of Gascoigne, Claudio Caniggia and his stupid elastic band round his hair. The dribbles of Maradona and the gifted but cynical Argentinians. And there are so more many memories.
Yet why is since 1990 its been downhill? USA 94.... well lets pretend that didn't happen. 98...... well that was in France so lets forget that too... cant praise anything French can we? 2002 in Japan and Korea, Germany doing the brits over to get to host the 2006 finals and now Sarf Africa.
Ok so there have been good games in 98, 02 and 06. But the games seem to have less goals and the players higher paid and bigger cheats (fall over easier). There seems less romance and all in all.....
It just smacks of Sepp Blatter all over!
Maybe we could spice it up by weighting the players like they do in horse racing.... handicaps! Tighter laced corsets for the better teams? Ok so you couldn't wear stockings as they'd get laddered (and that would make me cry!).... so maybe we could ban tackling as Platini wants.
And we'd ensure there wasn't loads of sponsors over the corsets to get back to grass roots.... and we could maybe make the better teams wear increasingly high heels..... a bit more of a handicap.....
Ah well..... suit yourself.... back to watching North Korea then!

How does it feel?
I was chatting to a chappy just the other day.... and he said ....."How does it feel?"
No... he wasn't breaking into Blue Monday song and no he wasn't hitting on me or.... well.... nothing smutty (i'm not that kind of girl i'll have you know!!!)
I'd been telling him about a new lingerie and stockings set i'd gotten and how eager i was to try them.
So that got me thinking.... how does it feel? I mean it's a little like trying to describe what coriander tastes like. It tastes like coriander. There's nothing else like it. Unless you've tried it you can't really know what it resembles because it's incomparable.
And that's lingerie..... and that's definitely a fresh pair of stockings gliding over smooth legs.
It would be a bit of a kop out to say "try it".... but i feel obliged to try and describe the indescribable.
Ok.... first.... it's the tremble of anticipation, knowing the delicious sensations that are awaiting. The sensuous materials, the rasps the ssssshhhhhhh noises of sheer fabrics on naked skin.
The smells of unworn items, like the first morning of spring, making the senses reel, the eyes close and allowing the mind to wander, drift and surrender.
The first garment makes the pupils dillate like the first slither of chocolate after a summer of salads. The constriction of shapewear a mixture of discomfort and pleasure. The waist pulled and the hips more pronounced. Layer by layer adds to the feeling til most areas of flesh are covered..... and the crowning glory.... the stockings.
I can still remember now the vivid first memory of stockings. What amazes me is how the sensation hasn't diminished in the last 25 years. It's as strong and alluring as it ever was.
Slipping the stocking over the toes, keeping the seam straight and deliciously revelling in the soft smooth texture grazing the ankle. Slowly tugging them inch by inch past the calf, keeping the seam straight, over the knee until it gracefully hugs the thigh. Settling...... a sense of being home. Familiarity, safety, comfort.
Not the sensation you'd expect? Perhaps that's why it's so addictive and so strong a desire.
Taboo.... safety..... known and unknown, eroticism and comfort, physical and mental pleasure.
Perhaps thats not the most detailed account of what it's like for a cd as they dress..... maybe i'll try again. Maybe i can help share just what it is that makes it all feel so right.
But til the next time..... i'm off to the underwear drawer.

From Lab to Lib to a Con... is this new politics?
Fluffing round the living room, a smidge of dusting (it does get dusty when warm and you need the windows open) and the news channel carries the big story of the day.
The State Opening of Parliament.
A day for pomp and ceremony and this time around the first official sitting of parliament.... (ok so only a handful of days before summer recess!).
Labour politicians getting used to their new seats and without a figure head.
Now i'm happy to state i have no political allegiance before going on....
I've seen PMQ's a few times on the telly whether a budget or big debate (nearly said mass there... ooer!) and it's a bit of jousting sometimes but this time... the new politics. Well it threw out a number of things that sent a shudder down the spine and a queasiness in the gut.
First.... Cameron
Stood up.... swaggered over his despatch box... smug.... conceited.... the lust for power overriding any tendencies to find his feet and show a humble persona. Derogatory and lacking in class despite his wealthy silver spoon upbringing.
A fierce power hungry expression spat disdain at all in front of him. You could easily stencil blood dripping from the corners of his mouth. One elongated serrated tooth overlapping his bottom lip as the veneer starts to pale and the truth come into public glare.
The fire of lust in his eyes. It looked primitive, it looked carnal, it looked savage, hostile, aggressive and the most definitive word ......ugly.
If this is the new politics.... its an ugly new politics. A thin veil of "the nations interest" used to cover the lustful desire to cling on to power as long as possible. Old conservatism. Little liberalism to be seen.
Changing law to seat for 5 years. Changing the number to call a vote of no confidence to 55%.... cynical.
I never liked Brown, but at least he didnt change the constitution or legal fabric to hold onto power. And yes he was unelected. But so are TweedleClegg and TweedleCam.
TweedleClegg sat listening as the Tory Government in which he now sits goes against every Lib policy going. As seemingly comfortable as if he wore a blue tie.
The only positive thing i can say from this coalition run out is it is unlikely to last long.
A coalition based on power will lead to greed and they won't be able to help themselves in rendering themselves impotent. The sooner that happens, the better for this nations greater good and interest.
Now.... where did i put that feather duster?

No Chelsea this year
For anyone who's never been to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show... in a way you're not missing anything, and are actually avoiding a great deal too.
But there's something in me that really enjoys it.
Ok the downsides. The smug gits trying to look knowledgeable about things they clearly don't... even worse if they are in BBC frame with the Titchmarsh!
The heat (if it's hot)... all those people.... it gets a bit sweaty!
The cold/ wet... speaks for itself weather depending!
The hoi poloi.... the wealthy former bankers, linen jacket, panama, ex banker ish types with two legs of mutton on their arm who barge and think they are better than everyone else.
And the old ladies, womens institute type who have sharper elbows than any hand back sales snatcher!
So why do i like it? There's a serenity amongst the chaos. There are beautiful glimpses of englishness. The more polite, the majority of the visitors, moving aside when they've had enough time to see the exhibits. Moving aside to ensure you get a good picture. Consideration for those who are more elderly or in a wheelchair.
Then you consider the achievement. Thousands of flowers, tonnes of earth and soil and brick, slate, metal, wood making creations that if you wandered by just a few weeks later would show no signs of being there. Anybody who didn't know the Chelsea Flower Show existed would have no inkling the site was it's home in any other month but May.
The smells the sights, the quality, the britishness, the poiliteness.... it's a quintessential part of our green little land.... and you know.... i think i'll get my finger out and make sure i'm there when the doors open in 2011... til then..... so Alan.... tell me about that curious little aquilegia...

Extremities
Why is it that the weather can't be gradual...hmm?
I mean is it really asking too much for temperatures to gradually increase or gradually decrease. Is it too much to hope that rain gets steadily harder instead of a flash flooding deluge ... that snow gets increasingly likely rather than puts 9 inches down overnight?
But oh no.... it seems like it was just two minutes ago when we were able to cut glass with our nipples, and now they are sliding off from melting in the 28 degree temperature.
And what about my easter egg hoardes that are yet to be munched and nibbled upon.... they don't like the heat.... and chocolate in the fridge.... don't be silly.
So mother nature.... please be a little more considerate, a steadily progressive weather policy is much more suitable... thank you

Come fly with me
Now I know £531m is a decent chunk of change these days... especially when it's added to another £400m from 12 months ago.... that's approaching.... well, a lot of millions!!!
So poor old Willie Walsh is up to his neck in it. A billion pond loss over 2 years. Striking unite members and even naughty volcano's are up to no good to make poor innocent Willie worry even more.
So.... I thought ... what could I do to help. After all I'm British and I wouldn't want our national airline going the way of things. So here's my outline to save BA.... here goes.
Well lets be honest.... they may as well try it, it's not like have a better plan is it? ;-)

So.... I thought ... what could I do to help. After all I'm British and I wouldn't want our national airline going the way of things. So here's my outline to save BA.... here goes.
- Step 1 - Change the uniforms.... if you're going on a plane... part of the fun is having a bit of eye candy... for boys and girls. Could you imagine.... an airline of french maids! The pricing premium for a bit of seam... a bit of stocking top, a bit of flounce.... a bit of frill. Male bookings would go through the roof! Increased prices, increased margins.
- Step 2 - Get shut of the strikers.... it may be bloody.... but progress is in a petticoat... get out of the way because the corsetted maids are out to please and not for themselves. A little goosing, a little tittilation.... stiff upper lips please... remember the empire!
- Step 3 - Willie... change your name, some very not nice words begin with W and the power of association... hmm... Bill..... something or other, go on be a dear .... ans after all there's too much confusion between you and that irish X factor gobshite, if politicians can unite in the nations interest you can change your name... chop chop
Well lets be honest.... they may as well try it, it's not like have a better plan is it? ;-)

If Carlsberg did.... car flags?
Ok... I get it... the world cup is just around the corner. The cheap nasty flags are on cars across the land (I've never seen one on a german car yet.... I wonder why?!?!?). Beer and telly's are discounted. Must be world cup season!
Do other countries do this? Do they have cheap nasty car flags that are out for the few weeks their teams are still in the competition? Is this what Britain has become? A bit of tacky flag waving on the NEET people carrier?
In contrast you have the Carlsberg advert. If Carlsberg did team talks....
Now don't get me wrong.... the tag is great, the advert is brilliant (can't beat a bit of Kasabian too!)... but really... if Carlsberg did things. I reckon they'd actually be more like the tacky flag. Ill thought out, cheap as can be and throw away. Cheap and nasty like their lager.
Pity.... because they are great at advertising, just a shame about the product! *adjusts corset a little now I've got that off my chest*

Slimming the HIP's
So it's almost official... HIP's are going to be suspended.
The end of the pointless Home Information Pack. I often wondered why they got brought in... I mean, estate agents didn't want them, RICS didn't want them, the public didn't want them. So who did?
If you ever saw them.... they had so little information in there of any value. The only noteworthy thing was the printed energy report. So you get a fridge style graph and thats it for the case of spending £500 or so. Bargain!!!
So really.... a waste of time, a waste of cost for the consumer... and I can't think of a better way to rid 3,000 pointless taxpaying jobs from the economy.
Tatar HIP's..... and I thought a corset was the only way to trim and slim!!! ;-)

zee classic french maid.... noir, oui?
Rubbish french I know
I was slipping into my maid attire just the other day and it suddenly crossed my mind....
Should a maid always wear black? Ok... so it's all a bit of fun and fantasy... but think about the evocative look that the french maid creates.
The exposed stocking tops giving teasing glimpses beneath full fluffy petticoats. That black and white contrast of apron against satin dress. Waist corsetted, heels tottering and the delicious little flouncing of the feather duster.
So audience... should a french maid be a classic "noir" or can we get adventurous and delve into other colours... reds... pinks... blues....
Well...... do tell (and be descriptive... i do love descriptive).... i might just give your suggestion a whirl ;-)

Did anyone see David Milliband's "launch"?
I'm going to get tarred with a political brush I just know it.... 2 posts now *tuts... shame on your chloe*
But when such easy prey pop their heads up above the parapet... well it would just be rude not to take a catapult.. or trebuchet to them
So... David Milliband... the great red hope. Was it just me or was it cringeworthier than Brown?
Flipping head from side to side, trying to speak in a way that sounded engaging but just sounded like a third mini me of Blair (following the Cameron Clegg debacles).
When will politicians get the deal. No matter how many advisers, how many think tanks, how many polls... all we want is real and truthful.
That's it. Be yourself and don't lie... is that really so hard to get?
No soundbites, don't be prepared in style, just know the numbers and the guts of the topic. If it's unpopular.... that's fine, but be consistent, don't flit about.
Hmm... maybe I should be a political adviser... I wonder if they allow corsets in the cabinet circle???

Same old politics
I remember it all quite vividly. The day Cleggmania caught on.
His first appearance on a stage next to the main UK political parties. Fresh, open, different.
Doesn't it seem that so much water has passed under the bridge since then?
Well.... forgive me for getting on my political soapbox.... but the sad truth of politics is that you go into it because you're power hungry. Let's look at the "new politics" that tweedleclegg and tweedlecam promised.
New politics was going to be working together for the greater good of the country. So their first cynical symbolic act is to cut 5% from cabinet members salary. Of course... from being promoted from MP to Cabinet member you instantly get a payrise of just under £70,000. Hmm.... 5% drop or 95% increase? Maybe just a one off oversight? Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
Ok new politics.... less waste then yes... they must cut deficit. So why rebrand a department the day you gain power? And to rebrand a department, thats been thought through in advance hasn't it? You can't just have a new logo and website done in a day... that's been in the pipeline for months.
So we now have the department for education. Not the department for children and families. Yes that benefits every single tax payer doesn't it? And knowing a little about rebrands, that will have cost something going into the millions once print costs and change of livery has been taken into account. So the "savings" of cabinet salaries is easily swallowed and more by this symbolic gesture of changing the guard.
But you know what rankles more than anything?
Just how easily the Lib Dems threw away their policies at the first sniff of a deal and getting some nominal positions around a table.
Trident.... a huge waste of money. £100bn over 20 years.... no longer mentioned
Immigration, open, welcoming, amnesty.... nope.. a straight forward cap that the tories wanted.
No cuts this year, let the economic recovery take hold.... *sigh* but now we hear the cuts must be made now.
So we're left with an undemocratic party that lied to gain power. But not just one party that lied, two parties that lied. Lib Dems and Tories, fierce enemies, now cradled together in sympathetic power sharing.
Disappointing, extremely disappointing... and they wonder why people don't vote?

Just what's happening to beautiful Bangkok?
It's hard to believe that just over a year ago I was melting in the extreme humidity of Bangkok coming out of its wet season.
Marvelling at the wonderfully friendly locals, their amazing support to tourists and just too happy to help and encourage first time visitors to come to love their city.
And now the scenes in the media are pain violence and confusion. It really is hard to believe that this side of Thailand can not only exist. but take root and grow.
I missed the sit in at Suvarnabhumi airport by a few days, and it made me smile But to see the red shirts and the Government in such heated exchanges.
I just hope the beautiful Bangkok shines through.

Builders.... why do they have to show their bum cleavage so much?
I'm having my boiler replaced. So I thought... you know what, arrange to work from home and you'll get as much done as you normally do.
Well... little did I know boilers are so messy and noisy to replace. Seriously... how much dust??? And you have to chuckle when at the end of the day they all toddle off out of the door and say the place is clean. Clean??? If clean is under half an inch of dust maybe!
But then half an inch of dust is much less distance than the amount of bum cleavage I've endured today. I'm thinking should I look at making, branding and selling by the bucket load inverted corset pants for builders that keep their bums in check?
I'm sure many a naive eye would thank me in due course!
Do you think they know? Are they just bottom flashing exhibitionists? Go and do some manly work and flash a bit of bum cleavage... that's what they must do!
Ah well.. i'm better served for tomorrow and the sequel... chloe won't offer tea or coffee... won't casually meander and enquire what they are doing and generally lock myself in the bedroom....

My maiden blog voyage
Well... just what am I going to share with the handful of people that float past??? Decisions decisions.
And you know. I'm not sure yet. I might be topical, I might be random who knows.
Drop by from time to time and hope you enjoy my musings
kisses from chloe
